Falconer Mk.1

3D Printed Blaster By AcrimoniousMirth

10/05/16 NOTE: This version is outdated and I've learnt a lot since. Due to time constraints I won't be editing or updating these files much so be aware that while it will be cheaper for the electronics, you'll have to do more cleaning up work. 09/04/16 So small printers can handle all parts except the Back Base. As such I've split it down into Back Base 1 and Back Base 2, which can be solvent welded together. They're designed to split through the motor mount base so solvent welding may not be entirely necessary but for strength I'd recommend it! 07/04/16 After discussion in comments (see below) several things are under consideration. The motors used are RM2 Solarbotics available at https://www.pololu.com/product/611 however it's recognised that the torque may not be sufficient for the ramrod system. As such research will be done into geared and higher torque motors while trying to minimise the trade off of price, power requirements and control electronics. The original design is meant to be accessible and as such I tried to avoid expensive motors and needing to buy and program control electronics, this may prove necessary in future iterations. Also raised was the fact that some people have wide hands and arms. While this was designed with 80mm inner clearance horizontally that's a recognised issue and thought will be put to addressing it, keeping in mind it would be nice not to make the entire thing monstrously oversized. Perhaps, as was suggested, a mega dart version would be appropriate. Stay posted, MK II may be underway sooner than I anticipated! Late 06/04/16 I AM SO KICKING MYSELF. I accidentally clicked "Publish" instead of save and view... Anyway I've done a quick botch job and uploaded the relevant videos to youtube, check below for the links to see how the thing works and I'll have a video out on assembly in a day or two so stay posted! 06/04/16 This is a fully automatic flywheel style gauntlet designed to fire 22 Nerf Elite darts. It is made to house 3 Solarbotics RM2 motors; 2 flywheel and 1 to run the ramrod mechanism. The entire design can be 3D printed with relative ease and the STLs should all be pre-oriented for printing (always double check they're flat on bed etc). It is all assembled with M3 screws, maximum length of 15mm. All holes are made with 3mm and 2.5mm diameters for the screws to grab onto. I have provided a total of 3 videos on the subject, two documenting my design and how it works and the third showing assembly steps. The design is ambidextrous and the wiring of the control mechanism is up to the end user though personally I like the ring option as I mention in my video. A quick circuit drawing is provided with the images depicting two parallel flywheel motors in parallel with the ramrod motor, both with control switches.
